This page contains articles about flying multi engine airplanes. It is a continuing work in progress. If you come across interesting articles or web sites lease let me know and I'll include them or link to them. HOW IT FLIES - MULTI ENGINE SECTION John Denker wrote a marvellous book, published and free on the Internet - See How It Flies. The Multi Engine Section is particularly relevant. SPINNING THE BEECH BARON Don't try this at home! Beechcraft decided to find out just how recoverable a Baron is when spun. The conclusions should make you think twice about ever getting close to a stall in a twin. Beechcraft Safety Communique 147 refers specifically to the Beech Model 55 Baron, and Safety Communique 192 talks about the Model 58 Baron. In both cases the conclusions are that it is possible to encounter spins from which you cannot recover. Note that Beechcraft used specially modified planes, with jettisonable doors, spin chutes and the pilot was wearing a parachute. Don't even think of trying it yourself. If you are still not convinced, read this article about a spin in the Beech Travelair.
