There is much to do in Columbia. Just strolling down the
main street is fun. No cars are allowed, only horses and pedestrians.
All the shops, restaurants and saloons are outfitted as they might have
been a hundred years ago and all the staff wear clothes modelled on
last century fashions. For the official Columbia State Historic Park
Web site click the image to the left.
The
Wells Fargo Express office processed most of the gold from the southern
mines.
Matelot
Gulch and the Hidden Treasure Gold Mine
Lickskillet
Cafe, great lunches and dinners.
Sarsaparilla in the Jack Douglass Saloon
Sierra
Gold Tea Company. A wide choice of teas, great deserts, and main courses
too.
Fallon
and City Hotels. Beautifully restored and appointed with Victorian furniture
and decorations.
DeCosmos Daguerrean Studio. Have fun dressing up in 19th century costumes
and take home a sepia tinted photo souvenir. While you are there, don't
miss a look into the old pharmacy and dentist's office next door.
