The Lickskillet Cafe

lickskillet.jpg (11569 bytes)The Lickskillet Cafe is just off Main St. Lunch is served on weekends only, and dinner all week except Mondays and Tuesdays. The food is imaginative, very tasty and interesting. Best described as a California cuisine with international flair.

There's a porch and a garden too, with tables outside, though in the summer we were glad of the airconditioning inside. Not very 49erish but welcome nevertheless.

A nice touch is the wide range of wines, especially local ones, that your passengers can buy by the glass while the pilot indulges in mineral water. Alternatively buy a bottle and take what is left home so the pilot can try it later.

On the walls are a variety of axeheads that weregrown on branches of trees. Makes for interesting conversation pieces. Also there are examples of local art.

Since the owner likes blues, the piped music is another plus, at least to my ears.

I don't imagine they often get hooligans like these above.

The selection of open botles for purchasing by the glass is quite extensive.

Enjoy!
