Shelter Cove

Shelter Cove (0Q5) is a great fly in destination, some 50 miles north of Mendocino, right on the coast. The airport has no services, and is closed at night, plus frequent coastal fogs can shut it down for days on end. It is a good idea to call ahead to be sure you can land there.

However, if you do make it, this is a real gem. There is a golf course, several eating places, ranging from a great fish and chip shop at the campground to a fancy restaurant. The beach is just yards away, and there are several nice bed-and-breakfasts too. The coastal scenery is great and is worth even just a day trip.
